A handful of SUNO sports fans witnessed history on Saturday. The Lady Knights (1-11, 0-7) volleyball squad captured their first victory in program history with a 3-0 shutout of Judson College (Marion, Alabama) in The Castle. SUNO's coach, Wendy Magee, watched her team get the job done in straight sets, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-22.
Showing a wealth of promise, freshman outside hitter Ziporrah Washington led SUNO in kills and attacks with 18 and 36, respectively. Washington attended Edna Karr High School. Sophomore libero Blake DeLarge, a product of Cabrini High School, led the Lady Knights 21 digs. Sophomore setter Lanika "Niki" Collins, out of Scotlandville Magnet, led the Lady Knights with 17 assists.
The Lady Knights will go only 3 miles away to take on GCAC rival Dillard University in Dent Hall on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
