If for some reason you missed both of AC/DC's epic concerts at
The aging band may be older than ever, but if last week's shows were any indication, they are still playing as strong and hard as any band half their age. Pumping up the crowd with classic hits such as "You Shook Me All Night Long," "Highway to Hell," and "Back in Black," both shows at MSG were impressive crowdpleasers. Without giving too much away for those of you who may be hauling out to the Meadowlands tonight, the band brings a stunning and impressively produced stage show, buffering their hard rocking songs with fantastic showmanship and flair. The New York crowd, ranging from kids as young as 8 years old with adults clearly well into their 60s, cheered, screamed, and sang along enthusiastically to every hit song, as well as a couple of new songs from this year's top selling album Black Ice.
Guitarist Angus Young was the star of the show, playing his classic solos with blinding speed, and going on an almost 10 minute rampage towards the end of the show, not letting up for a second as he shredded from one end of the stage to the other, down a catwalk, and finally onto a riser against a giant video backdrop. Singer Brian Johnson held the crowd captive the rest of the time, leading them in sing-alongs and chants, and smiling, winking and nodding at the thousands of adoring females lining the stage.
This is the first album AC/DC has put out in ten years, and given the age of the band, it may very well be their last, especially when you factor in the high-energy nature of their live peformances. Even if you're not the world's biggest AC/DC fan, and I'm the first to say that I'm a casual fan at best, this is a show worth seeing simply for the history involved. Songs such as "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" and "Hells Bells" are some of the best known tunes on rock radio, and AC/DC is one of the original hard rock bands. If you enjoy a good rock concert, or consider yourself a serious rock n' roll fan, then this concert is a must-see.
If you don't already have tickets for tonight's show at Izod, unfortunately it sold out within hours of going on sale. But ticket brokers and scalpers, a true concert fans' worst enemy, can also be a best friend, if you're willing to spend a little more cash.
If you're heading out to Izod to rock tonight, I salute you!
