Paint and ribbon turn plain bags into special gift holders.

Everyone knows by now the brilliance of gift bags. They are so easy for odd-shaped items as well as when time is short. Ones you’ve created yourself have a personal touch and are much less expensive. Plain bags in an assortment of colors are available at craft stores, but don’t overlook the reliable brown lunch bag.

To decorate, lightly dip a round sponge brush (available at craft stores) in craft paint and dot all over the bag to resemble a snowfall. Or brush one side of a star-shaped cookie cutter and stamp. You’ll get an interesting look if you brush the cookie cutter with a mix of two colors.

Let dry, add ribbon and you’ve got a unique package to put under the tree.
