Ashland will ‘kick off’ the 2009 holiday season with its 40th Old Time Holiday Parade this Sunday, Nov. 22.

The parade starts at 2:30 p.m. at Thompson Street and S. Snead Street and will follow Thompson Street east across the railroad tracks and along England Street to Henry Street. Going north along Henry Street, it will end at Archie Cannon Drive in front of John Gandy Elementary School.

More than 100 parade units, including Santa, will be marshaled by the Ashland Kiwanis Club in conjunction with the Town of Ashland.  Grand Marshall John Cox will be there, and Santa will close the Parade line up around 4:15.

For more information, call the Ashland Police Department at 804-798-1227. To see the parade lineup, visit this article by the Herald Progress.
