The year is 2005 and newer bands such as the Killers and Fall out Boy are becoming huge hits all around the globe, while Blink-182 however are deciding to call it quits for a while. The band decided to go on hiatus due to differences in decision making among the trio. The news left a lot of loyal fans crushed as they fell witness to another good band falter while things were only getting better.
With the death of Blink the guys decided to go their own ways and start new projects. Co- front-man Tom Delonge went on to create the space rock outfit Angels & Airwaves. Mark Hoppus and talented drummer Travis Barker created the electronic Esq +44. Both bands had modest success, but as they both released their debut albums with their new bands one thing that was noticeable was that there seemed to be some huge problems between Tom and Mark. Tom wanted his freedom and the whole theme of Angels and Airwaves was the sense of being able to start over from scratch and offer hope while giving thanks to all the fans of music. While Mark and Travis kept to the concept of letting their music do the talking. The song no it isn't has a startling line that could be directed toward their overall frustration with Tom. "Please understand this isn't just goodbye, this is I can't stand you. While never confirmed by Mark, it seems that the phrase could be a message and farewell to his former band mate and friend.
The years went on and the guys continued to work on their own projects up until September 2008 when Travis was severely injured and burned in a plane crash. Four people were killed and famed DJ AM was also severely burned but both were eventually released from the hospital and were told they would make complete recoveries within a year. The accident sparked talk between Tom and Travis as he sent his regards and even eventually went to visit Barker. Hoppus even joined and the three were once again in the same room together which ignited rumors for a possible reunion. While no member was quick to comment, the buzz was certainly swirling.
Then came Grammy night when the big surprise came, the three were on stage to present and dropped the bombshell that they were in fact back together and were going to record a new album and tour in the summer. While it has been quite some time since the boys seemed relevant, the underlying meaning of this reunion should be to never take anything especially friends or family for granted. Sure fights and differences occur but that doesen't mean things can't be worked out in time. One thing that is for sure is Blink is back and it should be one wild and crazy ride this summer.
