In a follow up to the previous article, here are some great modern day CD's for the music lover in your family.

"I-Empire" by: Angels and Airwaves- What better way is there to celebrate Christmas then to gave a CD that is filled with hope and also the joys of the world? This is the San Diego band's Sophomore effort following the popular "We Don't Need to Whisper" which was released in the summer of  2006. Track eleven "Rite of Spring" really defines the concept of the whole album as it portrays the facet that we shouldn't't regret anything in our lives but in fact we should all be grateful to be here and be alive. It is certainly an inspirational piece of work which isn't surprising as it was led by Mr. inspirational himself; Tom Delonge.

"Decadence" by: Head Automatica- This rather catchy dance/rock debut from the boys of Head Automatica really turned a lot of heads. Daryl Palumbo shocked many of his fans by creating a power pop band rather than continuing his roots in the post-hardcore world like his previous band "Glassjaw". The track "Dance Party Plus" is that which the title of the song suggests and so much more. Tim Armstrong of Rancid fame joins the fun by adding additional vocals to this track, turning the song into a fruitful dance anthem. It will be interesting to see where the sound of this band goes in the coming months as the band is set to release their third studio album.

"Continuum" by: John Mayer- Mayer's fourth studio album takes him to a new level in music. Forgoing his image as heartthrob to many young girls, he turns his sights on a very politically based album. Targeting our wrongful invasion of Iraq and the frequent lies handed down to us from government officials. Yes it does seem, that Mr. Mayer is all grown up with this album. "Belief" is the can't miss track from this album, Mayer bashes our political leaders in his message about how we should not just act with the basis of belief, we need more concrete evidence. One thing that is certainly clear is John Mayer believes innocent people are being killed In Iraq and he wants justice, and if that means him protesting through his music then so be it.

"Sam's Town" by: The Killers- The second effort from the Las Vegas based band picks up right where they left off with their first smash hit album "Hot Fuss". The music in Sam's Town finds the boys being just as catchy as they ever have been, the lyrics are still as weird as ever as well but thats ok. Front man Brandon Flowers has a way of making obscure lyrics work as he can create catchy tune after catchy tune. Obviously what better track to pick from the album then the craziest one of them all "Read My Mind". "I pull up to the front of your drive way, with magic soakin' my spine". A catchy song with unheard of phrases, oh well if anyone can pull it off it certainly is Brandon Flowers and the boys from the Killers.

"Evil Urge's" by:My Morning Jacket-  Pressure was certainly on the Kentucky based band that is My Morning Jacket after the amazing piece of work that was "Z". The band did not disappoint as they put out a record that very well could surpass Z as their best work as a band. Jim James voice is found to be soothing and very complementary to his bandmate's highly skilled guitar/drum work. The band is at their best on Evil Urges when they are at their simplest form. The track "librarian" is a basic song about two different things. One is an obvious fascination with librarian's and the way that they dress. Also it has to do with people and the constant struggle with self-esteem issues. "Karen of the carpenters, singing in the rain, another lovely victim of the mirror's evil way. It just goes to show no matter how famous you are, you may end up being under more and more pressure from yourself or the media to fit their ideal needs.

Hope you enjoyed my two part article, I hope you have some better idea's on what would be some good idea's for Christmas gifts.
