The Obama's are making health care a priority and living a healthy lifestyle is their first order of action, leading by example.
Michelle's arms might have stolen the spotlight but it's the first ladies overall approach to health that we should be envying. Appearing in Prevention Magazine this month, Michelle shares her favorite foods, weaknesses and workout routines.
Favorite guilty pleasure: Pie! Yes, you read that right! The first lady loves pie! She doesn't have a "no junk food" policy in the White House but in stead focuses on having a healthy relationship with food. When he clothes get a bit too tight, for the next few days, the first lady sticks to a clean, lean protein diet until the clothes find the added room again.
What you can learn from this trick? Instead of looking at the scale, focus on how your clothes fit to keep from gaining weight. If they start to feel snug, cut out the refined carbs and sugar, boost the exercise!
Finding the time: Michelle wakes up at 4:30 AM to fit in her workout, a practice she learned when Malia was just 4 months old! Her favorite workout is the obvious, upper body strength training because she can see the results quick! To get arms like Michelle Obama, try super-sets of hammer curls and triceps lever push downs. She also does Pilates, running treadmill intervals, and stretching exercises.
What you can learn from the first lady's fitness routine? Practice variety to keep from getting bored. Exercise in the morning to prevent distractions that may cause you to get too busy to make it to the gym. Instead of running at a steady state for 30 minutes, try some fat burning intervals!
Lastly, the Obama's are making health care a priority but education for preventative health care is just as important as passing the bill to get all citizens covered. Michelle is the first first lady to make her diet and fitness routine a priority. Making smart choices when it comes to food on the tables and finding the time to exercise is a must! The Obama's practice preventative care by eating a nutritious diet and getting in exercise daily. Many American's are overweight and as a result have over the top health insurance bills. By simply living a healthier lifestyle they can dramatically lower their bills and improve their health. Make healthy living a priority in your family to prevent spending on unnecessary bills.
