Among all the things to remember to do when you move, one of the most important ones is to inform people and companies that you interact with that you have a new address! Below is a general checklist to help you stay on track with updating communications. Not all of these contacts will be applicable to you and you might have other people to inform of your new information.

  • The US Postal Service
  • Family members
  • Friends
  • The state you live in (update your driver's license and car(s) registration)
  • Car insurance company
  • Health insurance company
  • Your family's healthcare professionals (i.e. personal physician, chiropractor, dentist, eye doctor, massage practitioner, etc)
  • Associations and community groups that you participate in
  • The microchip/registration information for your cat or dog
  • Your pet's healthcare professionals
  • Banks/Credit Unions
  • Your employer
  • Your child's school
  • Your child's daycare
  • Any company that automatically delivers items to your home (milk, newspapers, movies, etc)
  • Your Attorney (You will need to update the current copy of your will)
  • Local library
  • Magazine or newletter subscriptions
  • Companies that you receive catalogs from (only if you wish to continue to receive them)
