With the help of COVERGIRL and in promotion of her new album, Persona, Oscar-nominated actress and singer/rapper Queen Latifah has launched a search for the next great female MC.

Frustrated with the lack of female voices in the rap game, Queen Latifah (born Dana Owens) has partnered with the cosmetics brand on a quest to find the most talented young women on the scene (solo or group) who know their way around a rhyme. The winning act gets to open a date on the Queen’s upcoming tour, which kicks off November 1st in Canada. The winner will also get a makeover and be featured in a COVERGIRL Queen Collection ad, and possibly even land a record deal. Not too shabby.

Latifah’s new album features collabos with artists like Missy Elliott, Mary J. Blige and Busta Rhymes, and showcases a range of styles – incorporating R&B, rap, jazz and yes, even Auto-Tune. Persona is in stores now.
