‘The Greatest Moments in Sports’, the third children’s book by renowned sportscaster Len Berman, was officially released today.
In an interview with the Examiner, Berman said, “The book covers virtually all the sports.” The stories cover many eras starting with Babe Ruth's so-called "called shot" and ending with David Tyree's Super Bowl catch, he added.
The book also contains an audio CD of actual broadcasts to relive the drama and excitement of events as they happened. Some of the actual broadcasts include David Tyree’s Super Bowl helmet catch, Wayne Gretzky’s breaking of the NHL scoring record and Michael Jordan’s championship buzzer-beater.
Berman’s other books include ‘Spanning the World: The Crazy Universe of Big-Time Sports, All-Star Egos, and Hall of Fame Bloopers’, ‘And Nobody Got Hurt!: The World's Weirdest, Wackiest True Sports Stories’ and ‘And Nobody Got Hurt 2!’ His next children’s book, "The 25 Greatest Baseball Players of All Time" is slated for release next October.
Berman will be signing copies of his book on Friday November 13 at the Clinton Book Shop from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Emmy-award winning sportscaster has covered just about every major sporting event including multiple Super Bowls, World Series and Olympics over the past 40 years. He created ‘Spanning the World,’ a monthly collection of sports bloopers, which aired on NBC’s Today Show for over 20 years.
After NBC decided not to renew his contract earlier in May this year, Berman started his own website, LenBermanSports.com, where he sends out free daily emails to subscribers of his Top 5 sports stories of the day. The Top 5 email is also featured on The Huffington Post and is received by thousands around the country.
