WriMoDemon by Chris Jacque

National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is in full swing. Participants should have written 1,667 words of their 50,000 goal so far.

But. Let’s face it. It’s not easy to crank out over 1,500 words a day. Sometimes, a writer could use a little encouragement.

How about an iTunes application? It’s called WriMoDemon by Kris Jacque, and it’s been available for free in the iTunes app store since October 31, 2009.

The app has the following features:

  • Keeps track of writer’s daily word counts
  • Statistics keep track of where the writer stands and helps him/her set goals to complete a novel by the end of the month
  • Adjust the target goal from 50,000 (higher for the very ambitious; lower for the swamped)
  • Word per day mode allows entry of daily totals
  • Press the reset button to start writing any month and create your own tradition

Demon…or Angel? My vote is for the latter. It’s free, simple and straightforward, without a lot of details to further distract writers from their target goals.
