Staples Center to host Jackson memorial
The end of the reign for the King of Pop is approaching as plans are announced for the second attempt at a public memorial for Michael Jackson, now stating burial for the singer will be at Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills with a public memorial at the Staples Center.
The Staples Center owned by AEG Live plans to keep the event free to fans that plan to pay their respects to Jackson. No word yet on how the tickets to the memorial are planned to be distributed. Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine already voices concern though on crowd control coming off a holiday weekend.
“If you can imagine 100,000 people show up and you have 20,000 capacity (at The Staples Center), there is not significant room. Now you have a crowd control problem.” He also says the city can not afford to pay police officers overtime either to watch over the event.
In other news the judge in the custody hearing for Jackson’s young children has postponed at the request of Debbie Rowe, former wife and mother of two of the pop star’s children, now stating she “has not reached a final decision on pending custody” shortly after a reading of Jackson’s will also named longtime friend Diana Ross as a possible custodian for the children.
Authorities are also continuing to look into the connection drugs may have had in the death although there are discrepancies arising over the way the home was treated as a crime scene. Los Angeles police say they followed proper procedure when the rented home where Jackson died was not sealed off after he had died. With the involvement of drugs, the matter is possibly becoming a criminal investigation if the doctors treating Jackson had knowing misprescribed medications or prescribed medications to Jackson under another name.
As more friends of Jackson come forward with information that he seemed to be addicted to taking painkillers the case against those furnishing Jackson with drugs seems possible.
The death certificate for Jackson at this time still lacks a final cause of death is still pending as the date of his funeral approaches.
