If you have spent anytime on the Chicago venue circuit, its impossible to miss out on Egostatic. One of the mainstays for the last decade combining elements of 70's glam and 90's ferocity, the band appearing as a support act for many of the Metro and Double Door's most elite headlining acts, Egostatic and its many lineups have been carving out a name for themselves officially since '98 or 2001 depending on whom you ask.
Led by the ambitious Pauly, set on blending his influences like Jane's Addiction, Kiss, Nirvana, and Missing Persons into some sort of new tangible Chicago scene sound, the band has set the stage for the continuing and constantly changing local sound: playing Warped Tour, opening for Gwar and being featured on shows such as Calfornication, the Carpe Diem DVD, a David Bowie tribute, and The Cure tribute Strange as Angels.
While touring as a supporting guitarist for Disturbed, Pauly began writing what was to become the upcoming Red Swan EP said to be detailing three years of love, conflict, and personal turmoil. After setting a contact with director Brain Metcalf for the usage of the song Sugar on The Dreamless soundtrack, later directing the video for "Way Up High," Egostatic was asked to be the first band on the start up Ratio Records.
Proceeding Egostatic, many of the lineup including Pauly started the journey with Plastic Princess, a gloomy but strange gothy-rock-and-roll experience with twisted tunes about feuds with other rival area rockers in the ballad "Paper Star" and confusing squealing ranting songs about candy canes and gumdrops and drugs is some crazy combo that would make Willy Wonka blush. After the breakup some of the lineup continued to the first edition of Jupiter Blue, a band that still continues on in some fashion out in L.A. after departing Chicago.
