An idea to spend one week recording with Ben Folds in a bedroom has turned the solo of The Dresden Dolls Amanda Palmer into a remarkably epic journey of piano driven cabaret punk reading as close to the heart as a diary entry. Who Killed Amanda Palmer, playing a kin to Twin Peaks, is a poignant rollercoaster of character studies like soap opera psych class study gone array with enough dark humor, humility, and apathy even through her darkest narrative on “Oasis” or “Runs in the Family” taking even the ugliest and most tasteless of situation and finding beauty. Palmer writes with a poet’s wit, resurrecting herself many times over a phoenix over the span of twelve tracks and its hard not to fall even further in love with her art each entry. The Metro show December 3rd also features an open mic session for fans to showcase their own creations.
