Now that Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak has won a third term as the head of that city's government, it has now become apparent that he may be looking to enter the race for the Governorship of Minnesota in the coming year. According to news report appearing in the online news magazine Politics in Minnesota.com, "Rybak is actively seeking endorsements for the governor's race and has appeared a governors debates, so he is running for governor." The report by Betsy Sundquist, a staff writer for the St. Paul Legal Ledger Capitol Report, also states that, "A group working on the advance candidacy of the Minneapolis Mayor is soliciting supporters and funds, in spite of the state's biggest newspaper [only] endorsing Rybak for mayor of the state's largest city.
However, Rybak has mostly deflected questions about his future aspirations and kept quite about his immediate future plans, except concerning that of becoming the mayor of Minneapolis again. And according to Sundquist's report, "the Draft R.T. Rybak for Governor committee has reported that 2,600 supporters from across the state have signed a petition asking R.T. to run in next year's gubernatorial elections. And the group continues to insist that Rybak has no direct connection to the organization which paid for a booth this past August to solicit signatures at the Minnesota State Fair.
