Man shot to death, another man charged after domestic dispute turned violent

A man shot to death outside a Columbia home during a domestic dispute was idenitified today as Ian Foyster of Hopkins.

Foyster, 44, died of multiple gun shot wounds to the head and chest about 9 p.m. Monday, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said today.

Tony Ray Watson, 44, was charged with murder in the incident, which happened at 2521 Trotter Road, according to press release from the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Watson in the Richland County jail today.

A woman who was living with Watson at the incident location on Trotter Road was in the home at the time of the shooting. The woman and Foyster were going through a separation,

The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Monday when the two men got into an argument. Watson obtained  a pistol from his car at the same time Foyster was moving his vehicle to allow Watson to depart, the release said.

Foyster was shot at close range as he was getting out of his vehicle, officials said. He died at the scene.
