HIstory, Hijinx and Hideaways Revealed
Two months of on-the-go activities for those curious about Miami's past, all the twists and turns of our young and tempestuous world are available for viewing, touring and dissecting. Over 70 events throughout March and April
South Florida is awash with lurid stories, wild rumors and crazy characters…most of them true; otherwise Miami novelist
Carl Hiaasen and
Edna Buchanan would not have such stellar careers incorporating some of the more bizarre activities conjured up in the heat and humidity.
Steve Gaines, who penned a searing 1998 summer must-read about The Hampton’s entitled “Philistines at the Hedgerow”, has just sharpened nibs and jibes in a less-than-high brow account of the exploits of South Beach called “Fool’s Paradise”. Great, now I have to defend my warm & fuzzy home turf, lest I appear flighty…….or worse, for my choice of settlement.
Now…..where was I going with this; Oh Yeah;
Dade Heritage Days are upon us, a time to scuttle about in our musty attic (literarily speaking) dredging up the secrets of the past.
