Brosia Restaurant

Here you are in Miami on one of the myriad days of Art Basel (time is all a blur), attempting to see every piece of artwork  stuffed in all corners of our fair city.  Suddenly, you're suffering from low blood sugar;  you can't remember if you are in the Art Asia tent or PhotoMiami .  What to do. Since a good deal of the satellite exhibitions are in Wynwood, let's focus on  getting you fed nearby.  Wynwwod until recently was more infamous than famous, if you get my drift.  "Nuff said.

Most shows have some sort of sustenance within their confines, and usually edible, since Art -Appreciation usually goes with Culinary Appreciation.  I made that up, but I'm pretty sure it's true.
Wynwood restaurants are few and far between, but many of the best establishments are in the nearby Design District. It is the place to eat right now for hipness du jour.  It may be even more difficult to manage a seating during Art Basel, but, hey, I can only point for you.

Michael's Genuine Food & Drink

Brosia

Such a delight; you won't feel that you have compromised your arteries with this Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.   The staff is very accommodating. They bent over backward to make a birthday lunch just right for us.  The carefully prepared menu is only eclipsed by the stunning tree-covered patio. Brosia is next to Design Miami, so plan your day accordingly.

Michael's Genuine Food & Drink

A long-winded name, but a very successful venture.  It does sound  like a saloon from Abilene 1880, but rest assured it is none of the sort.  Again, pleasant outdoor dining is available in a lovely breezeway between 39th &  40th Street. It became an instant hit with the cool & groovy set, (adult-type) upon opening a few years ago.  Great burger, but oh, so much more.

Pacific Time

I have not dined here since they moved from their long-rime Miami Beach location, but chef Jonathan Eismann's Pan-Asian menu has a stellar reputation.

 Fratelli Lyon

Casually elegant and located in and adjacent to the wonderful  Driade Design showroom, this stylish and fun "of the moment" Italian restaurant is  great for any level of appetite and fussiness, should any of you be the tricky sort.....raise your hands, please.

Lost & Found Saloon

If you are not "to-the-manor-born, this is a snack,/meal/watering hole spot to camp out and relax for a bit .  In a previously deadly area they were the first to plunk down in the center of the renaissance of Wynwood (im)proper. The food may be a bit uneven, but I'd go again. It's esthetically comfy enough.

Sheba

When this Ethiopian Restaurant opened we all went running to check it out, and were pleasantly surprised at Sheba's charming ambience complete with live music (soothing, generally) and interestiing adjacent shop.  Warning:  do not eat too many of the yummy crepe-like thingys they give you to mop up your food.  I always o.d. and spend way too many an hour being "stuffy" feeling.   The food is quite good.  Great for a group to try it all.

Okay, so chew on this for awhile and I will return to this space for more morsels of information in the not-too-distant future.

I think I'll share some of the local galleries and spotlight what they are offering during this most important time on the art calendar.
