In February 2009, audio from a alleged meltdown actor Christian Bale had on the set of "Terminator: Salvation" surfaced on the internet. The "Dark Knight" actor goes on a angry rant at the director of photography, Shane Hurlburt, for accidentaly ruining a scene by walking on set.
"No, no. Am I gonna f***ing rip your lights down in the middle of the scene? What the f*** is it with you? What the f*** don’t you understand?" the actor is heard saying on the tape (see below).
So what's with the anger? Is it because actors are trained to be emotional for their work, and sometimes it bleeds into their real-life personalities? Or is it the diva complex coming out, and, unfortunately for them, making it on tape?
Here's a look at some other actors who've melted down in front of a recording device, whether in farce or in truth.
Micheal Cera
The lovable, awkward babby-daddy in "Juno" went on a slightly angry tirade on the set of "Youth in Revolt." Granted, this video came out on the heels of Bale's own rant, so we're pretty sure this is a faker. Besides, doesn't he seem like too nice of a guy?
Michael Richards
Most people remember this one. At the Laugh Factory, Michael Richards (aka Kramer from "Seinfeld") went on an angry, racist rant after he was heckled by the crowd. You would think as a comedian, he would be used to heckling, but looks like he couldn't handle it. Richards later apologized.
Alec Baldwin
"30 Rock" actor Alec Bladwin left a ruthless message for his daughter on voicemail in April 2007. After his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland. failed to pick up his scheduled call, Baldwin went on an angry rant, calling her a "thoughtless little pig," and insulting her mother, Kim Bassinger.
David Hasselhoff
Maybe the saddest of them all, "Baywatch" star Hasselhoff was recorded by his 16-year-old daughter. Hasselhoff was drunk, and attempting to eat a burger. Apparently, the Hoff, a recovering alcoholic, had asked his kids to recorder him so he could see what he was like under the influence.
Christian Bale
We'll end with the one that started it all, Christian Bale.
