Warner Brothers "Happy Feet"

In Los Angeles, temperatures are in the 80s and 90s this week, making it hard to remember that it is in fact mid-November. So, we’ve made a list of some wonderful winter films to put you in the right mood for the holidays. Warm up some hot chocolate, put on your favorite winter coat and snuggle up for one of these chilly winter wonders.

The Ice Storm
Ah, the 70s, when swinging “key parties” and savage ice storms were the best way to keep a family together. The film is jam-packed with stars including Kevin Kline, Tobey Maguire, Christina Ricci, Elijah Wood, and Sigourney Weaver. The jingle of icicles on trees will make anyone’s fingers feel a little frosty.

Ice Age
Cute, cuddly pre-historic animals roam the earth looking to escape to cold. Who can’t relate to the little squirrel who just wants some food?

Iron Will
This family film about a teen dog-sled racer will melt event the most frozen of hearts. The 1994 movie is based on the adventures of Albert Campbell, who raced in 1917 from Winnipeg to Saint Paul.

Snow Falling on Cedars
When a Japanese-American fisherman goes on trial for killing his neighbor at sea, the storms are not just in the weather. An explosive combination of racial tension and deep-seeded anger create a flurry of emotion in this film.

Vertical Limit
When his sister is trapped on top of K2, one of the world's biggest mountains, Peter Garrett must rescue her. With enough snow and misadventure to last a lifetime, these 124 minutes will probably be the closest you ever need to get to a death-defying mountain.

Fargo
This  Oscar winning film throws us into the freezing cold Midwest where, stuck in a financial jam, Jerry Lundegaard hires someone to kidnap his wife and demand ransom from her father. But things get as messy as a slushy driveway when his henchmen wreck his plans, and a pregnant police chief, Marge Gunderson, hounds them down.

Happy Feet
We know, another animated film! But with tiny penguins belting out their “heart songs” and tap dancing, how could we resist? Not to mention to long list of big-time actors who donated their vocal chords to the film including Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Brittany Murphy, Hugh Jackman, and Nicole Kidman. They make our feet (and us) happy.
