Christine, the owner of www.abodycandle.com sent me one of her Scandle candles to try out for myself after her recent interview with me. I'd like to share with readers my experience with the product.

Christine could be full of herself considering how many awards she and her company have received in recent years, but she was the epitome of professionalism with a touch of humor. When the mention of sensory input reactions and chemical sensitivity was brought up, she responded right away with the option of un-scented products and that is what she sent.

The packaging is exactly as shown on the website. The candle received was in a portable tin with lid, and a product pamphlet to accompany it.

According to the website, the candles "have a very low melting point, just slightly above body temperature. Melting at just 101 - 102 degrees, Scandle Body Massage Candles are warm, not hot. However, unless someone has actually tried a Massage Candle, they tend to be skeptical of the candle’s ability to burn cooler than a traditional candle and to deliver therapeutic moisturizing benefits to the skin."

After burning the candle for about 20 minutes while bathing, the candle was ready to pour. However, the tester wasn't as ready and so tested by dipping a finger into the melted wax to test temperature. Amazingly, it was not hot to the touch and so it was poured first into a palm and then applied to the calf area of the leg.

The slip was good, not sticky or gummy like one might expect from a waxy natural ingredient. It glided with relative ease and absorbed without sitting on top of the skin and being oily or heavy.

From a massage standpoint, it was nice because it stayed workable for a while, rather than drying up, or being too oily. It would be a nice product to include in any spa setting for it's obvious multiple uses. As a massage lotion, a moisturising lotion, and a scented or un-scented candle.
