The term "Sunny Southern California" didn't surface out of nowhere. True, while non-natives believe that we here in the City of Angels do not see "real seasons," I tend to cringe, whine, and bundle up when nature's thermostat drops below 55 degrees.
It's a birthright to have nice weather all year round.
If you haven't been slaving away in a cubicle for 10 hours a day, you'll have noticed that the past few days have been sun-kissed at 80 degrees! If you have not gotten an opportunity to enjoy it yet, it's time to come out the woodwork... We can safely anticipate 3 more days of this golden bliss!
No doubt about it -- in the dead of winter, us Angelenos can sunbathe. Gosh, I love LA.
Here are few of my favorite places to get some sun:
Rooftop Pool at the Standard Downtown: Corporate neighbors and hipsters alike can go enjoy the city view, have some cocktails, and get some sun. Rooftop Bar opens at 12 noon.
Paradise Cove in Malibu: Have lunch, then lazy up on the deck chairs right on the sand. Malibu has a nice 21-mile stretch of beautiful beaches, if you have time for a little bit of serenity.
Rooftop Pool at The London in West Hollywood: Sunbathe and feel "sooo LA" alongside The London's rooftop pool -- so contemporary and chic, you can pretend you're in an episode of Entourage for an afternoon.
If my lazy lounging is not your thing, go take a hike...
...At Runyon Canyon, that is! Sure, we'll always have a little smog, but it'll be a clear beautiful day to overlook all the hustle and bustle down below.
And remember, there is Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Santa Monica, Venice, Marina Del Rey, and Malibu -- no matter where you may be, you are only "20 minutes" away from the West Coast's finest.
Since you have already missed the weekend, you may have to play a little hooky at your 9-to-5 to catch up on these beautiful rays. Extended lunch, anyone?
