Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Brett Myers will be making a rehabilitation appearance tonight for the IronPigs when Lehigh Valley takes on the Pawtucket Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. This will be the fifth minor league rehab start for Myers as he makes his way back to the major league roster.
In his first four rehab appearances, one with Single-A Clearwater and Single-A Lakewood and two with Double-A Reading, Myers has allowed only one run, while striking out 11, over six innings of work.
As Myers did in Reading, he is expected to make two rehab starts with the IronPigs. Although there has been no official announcement as of yet, Myers will likely suit up for the IronPigs again on Wednesday evening in the first game of a two-game set with the Syracuse Chiefs.
Myers, before going on the disabled list with a torn labrum on May 28, was 4-3 with a 4.66 ERA as a starter for the Phillies.
Tuesday will mark the second stint Myers has had with the IronPigs as Myers was sent down to Lehigh Valley from the Phillies during the season last year to retool his form. It worked, as Myers was later recalled by Philadelphia and proved to be key in their World Series run.
MOVING ON UP
LHP Jack Taschner's contract was purchased by the Phillies Tuesday. C Tim Gradoville will join the IronPigs as he was called up from Double-A Reading. RHP Brett Myers was added to Lehigh Valley's roster for his rehab assignment.
