I was at Northpark yesterday looking fab (yes, that is a very critical element of shopping at NP) so I decided to visit the recently-opened DeBeers. I went in resisted the urge to speak first, my first gauge of customer service. The woman I made eye contact with greeted me and welcomed me to the boutique. I told her that I am in the marketing for a right hand ring and I'm looking for some inspiration.
My "brand ambassador" Betsy McGrath, asked what I was interested in, and I said white gold and diamonds, but generally, I am uncertain. She was very gracious and helpful, showing me designs that fit what I asked for. She let me try them on and offered to get the correct ring size from the back room if I found something I was really attached to.
I made some interesting discoveries. I ended up liking some rings (more understated designs) that I wouldn't have picked out alone. We ventured into the wedding bands and she showed me an astronomical eternity band that I fell in love with, but I told her that I simply couldn't have something like that because I'd be totally consumed with watching the ring.
She said that she understood what I meant and suggested I go look in the mirror and see how I looked in the rings that I favored. She said that she was willing to show me some of the rings that fell into the engagement collection, but we both laughed when I told her that I couldn't even get close to those because the bling was staggering.
Soon after that I got a call from my friend I was meeting for lunch. Betsy wrote down the style names and told me about the sale that was running on the rings that I liked and invited me back to the boutique with my friend if I had time.
Great experience. Much better than I would have expected!
