Our favorite Uptown treasure hunters, the Gypsy Wagon, are featuring four great artists for this weekend's handmade market. Abbie Chesney, Cathy Murphy, Sandy Earle, and Tricia Barnett are all bringing their wares to bestow upon us incredible gifts of originality.
Abbie is a restoration artist and designs jewelry fashioned from used guitar strings. Local musicians donate their old strings and Abbie turns them into hip and unique pieces of wearable art. Even better, a portion of her proceeds are given to the Carter Albrecht Music Foundation.
Cathy creates simply adorable baby shoes made of felt. She keeps it green because the material she uses is made from 100% post consumer plastic and organic liners.
Sandy is a found objects artist and repurposes forgotten, lost, and discarded items into one of a kind jewelry. They're a surefire conversation-starter.
Tricia does custom bookbinding, and creates custom albums, specialty boxes, and desk sets from her Happy Girl Studio.
Finally, the don't-miss of this handmade market event is the Janet Schmidt jewelry collection fashioned from religious relics.
