Ashley Simpson-Wentz & Pete Wentz name baby boy Bronx Mowgli

Ashley Simpson and Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz welcomed their first born son on Thursday and they are giving NY a shout out by naming him Bronx Mowgli, yep that's right. Just when you thought it couldn't't get any weirder than Apple Martin.

Simpson, who married Wentz last year, announced the oddly named arrival as weighing in at 7lbs 11 oz and that both mom and baby were doing well. Although there has been a sudden surge of unique baby names in Hollywood it is hardly a new trend. Demi Moore  named her daughters Rumor, Scout and Tallulah Belle over 15 years ago. Will these tots be able to survive their school years while running around the playground with other children named Aidan and Olivia?

Little Bronx need not worry, he can join Brooklyn and Cruz Beckham( parents Victoria and David Beckham  ) on the swing sets or Apple Martin, whose parents are Gweneth Paltrow and Chris Martin. He can also start a much needed therapy group for celeb tots with oddball names and invite Zuma Nesta Rock son to Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale  and Rowan and Grier Henchy who are the daughters of Lipstick Jungle star  Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy just to name a few.

What is the motivation for these stars to name their children such oddly unique names? Is it for media attention or do they want their children ,who already lead such public lives, to grow into the character of the name. You would think they would want their children to just blend in like everyone else and  avoid the constant media attention, the celebrities who claim to want so much privacy seem to go out of their way with the creativity in baby naming to stir up a media frenzy. If Ashley and Pete had named their baby Zachary you would not be reading this article.
