Michael Jackson's memorial service will be held Tuesday morning at L.A.'s Staples Center and will be a grand warewell to the King of Pop. Stars such as, Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Lionel Richie are among the celebrities who will participate in the service. Also attending: Ron Boyd (family friend), Andrae Crouch Choir; Berry Gordy; Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain’s Got Talent); Magic Johnson; Martin Luther King III; Bernice A. King; John Mayer; Smokey Robinson; Rev. Al Sharpton; Brooke Shields; Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend) and Stevie Wonder. It is rumored that Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson will perform at the service. No word on the stars' specific roles.
Among the many people who will be attending their are three most noticeably who will not be present. Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, who backed out of going because "her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction to an event that should focus exclusively on Michael's legacy," said attorney Marta Almli. Jackson's cardiologist, Conrad Murray, who was with the King of Pop when he died June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest, also is skipping the memorial, and Jackson's dear friend, Elizabeth Taylor, posted on Twitter why she won't be going to the event. "I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event," she wrote. "I said I wouldn't go to the Staples Center, and I certainly don't want to become a part of it. I love him too much."
More than 1.6 million fans registered on-line for a chance to attend the Staples Center ceremony, and only 8,750 names were chosen. The expected attendance is around 17,000 family, friends and fans and an estimated 700,000 Jackson mourners are expected to show up at the Staples center to honor the legend. Jackson's remains reportedly will be present at the massive memorial and will than be taken by motor cade to Forest Lawn Memorial-Park Cemetery. Randy and La Toya Jackson were among mourners delivered in a dozen or so cars to the cemetery in Los Angeles Monday night, accompanied by police. Randy, a younger brother of the late superstar, was one of the first to show up at the cemetery, a little before 7 p.m. local time. Wearing a casual straw hat, La Toya Jackson arrived shortly after, showing no outward sign of emotion, according to eyewitnesses.
