Family and friends held a private funeral to honor the life of actress Farrah Fawcett on Tuesday afternoon at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in L.A. The star lost her battle with cancer last week at the age of 62 after fighting colon cancer for nearly three years.
Actor Ryan O'Neal, Farrah's long-time love and father of her son Redmond O'Neal, was on-hand for the ceremony and acted as a pallbearer as the TV star's casket was moved out of the church. Also in attendance for the funeral mass was Farrah's closest friend, Alana Stewart and her Charlie's Angels co-star Kate Jackson. Fawcett's son Redmond, who is currently in police custody on drug charges, was given special permission by a judge to attend the funeral, where he was slated to give the first reading.
O'Neil said in a statement to Us Weekly, "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world," O'Neal told Us after Fawcett's death.
