Calling all 90210 fans. If you were a dedicated fan of the original show(as I was) from 1990-2000, then you will be happy to know that Donna Martin will return to 90210 after all! Tori Spelling is in “final negotiations” to return to the world’s most famous zip code, a show rep confirms to PEOPLE. The actress and mother of two who was set to star in the CW’s spin-off when it was announced — but then had “no plans” to join the show for its fall debut — is close to finalizing a deal to be in multiple episodes. But details of the deal, which was first reported by EW’s Michael Ausiello, are still unknown.
Internet rumors credited everything from money to a rivalry with current 90210 star Shannen Doherty as reasons her initial deal fell through. But Spelling, daughter of the original show’s producer Aaron Spelling, was always supportive of the show.
“I hope it turns out to be a really great show, just for my dad’s legacy,” she said. “I was originally a part of [90210] and it was something pretty phenomenal, so I hope it turns out great.” Any other original cast members scheduled to appear?
Unfortunately, Jason Priestley, who played good-guy Brandon Walsh in the original, won’t be in front of the camera. But he will be directing the new cast of his alma mater starting later this month. His episode will air March 18.
Although I have gotten reeled into the new 90210, I say bring as many of the old cast back as you can. Growing up with this show, it brings back so many memories and it would be great to see the cast together again. Although Tori Spelling was really an annoying character toward the end of the show, I'm still excited at the prospect of her on the new spin off.
Spelling has been keeping busy with other projects in recent years, she has her own reality show in its 3rd season, Tori and Dean Home Sweet Hollywood, in which she shares her everyday life with husband and actor, Dean McDermott. Spelling also has own jewelry line on HSN and recently became a mom for the second time to baby girl Stella Doreen(she also has a little boy Liam who is almost 2)
