
Why is it that we pledge to the gods every year that on January 1st we will start a new diet and exercise routine? Because we want to indulge, usually over doing it, and finish that last piece of pecan pie left over in the fridge from Christmas. But why not do into the holidays with a clan to have our cake and eat it to-in moderation!
I thought I would leave the dieting secrets to the experts-celebrity mom's, whose job is to look good and keep those pounds off while trying not to lick the bowel when baking holiday cookies with their kids. These stars reveal their tricks to beating the seasonal bulge to many of us end up with come January 1st.
1. Splurge on the meal only "Plan around the holiday meal. Eat well before, and eat well the next day" says Melissa Joan Hart
2. Cut out post-holiday carbs "I'll just start the Atkins diet after the holidays. I don't eat carbs. I eat alot of fish and vegetables and drink a ton of water" says Vivica A. Fox
3. Strike a balance " I just work out that much harder. I move, move, move-because I like to eat"- Lisa Rinna
4. Get revved up " Everything in moderation, but I'm really active. I work out, I hike. Now that I'm 40, I have to keep myself moving."-Ricki Lake
5. Eat 6 small meals "Post holidays I get into the habit of eating every three hours, but little portions-Shanna Moakler
6. Spice up a healthy treat, Halle Berry air pops kernels of popcorn than tosses it with cinnamon and parmesan cheese.
7. Pick an active activity the whole family can do "We run on the beach or at the park with the whole family for about 45 minutes just running around after on another" says Candace Cameron Bure
8. Fill up on fruits and vegetables like Jennifer Garner, who stocks up weekly at her local farmers market.
9. Stay away from sugary and high in fat drinks like egg nog and champagne, instead stick with wine or light beer like Brooke Shields.
10. Flush out the junk "I love drinking chamomile tea. It really cleanses your body, so I try to drink two or three cups a day."-Daisy Fuentes
