Gamers don't make good movie critics - Netflix on the New Xbox Experience

Netflix, Now with 12,000 movies via XBox 360

With the release of the New XBox Experience, Netflix on Demand takes a huge leap into millions of livingrooms across the country.

A side effect of this is that a number of Gamer Writers now somehow think they are movie critics.  Right here on Examiner.com, Daniel Nations (a Game Examiner) posted his list of The best Netflix on-demand movies.

The result is a painful reminder why gamers need to take off their film critic hats and pick their game controllers back up.

So here's a quick counter point from someone who spent over 9 years in the home entertainment industry:

Best Netflix On-Demand Movies - Comedy. Daniel says: Fear of a Black Hat !?!

Are you serious? This puppy isn't even worth staying up late and night to watch it on cable? I'm almost expected to see Xanadu or Tootsie on your list (given your selections) How about The Jerk? Timeless classic comedy. Heck even Happy Gilmore is a better choice. Want one that will have you laughing to the point of tears? Go with Jackass: The Movie. Yeah I know, but trust me it's up there with Borat as one of the funniest movies ever.

Best Netflix On-Demand Movies - Drama.  Daniel Says: A Time To Kill?!?!

Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock... Really? Best Drama? You need to get out more my friend.  Try Once Upon a Time in America a sweeping family saga that's got more drama in 5 minutes than in all of A Time To Kill.

Best Netflix On-Demand Movies - Horror/Thriller/Sci-Fi. Dainel Says: Daniel Says: Scarface.

Genre's, we don't need no stinking genres.. Scarface isn't any of these. Scarface is really an actions film..  For horror start with THE penultima Dawn of The Dead, Thriller, The Birds  and Scifi Close Encounters of the Third Kind or  A Clockwork Orange.

Best Netflix On-Demand Movies - Television. Daniel Says: Coupling.

While not a horrid choice, not the best. Try out a show that's raised the bar on television  This American Life: Season 1  or a quirky cult hit like Dead Like Me: Season 1

Also some categories got sorley overlooked. Like Music Documenteary: Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense,
New York Dolls: All Dolled Up  or Foreign: Das Boot or The Lives of Others , Indie: The Puffy Chair, Living in Oblivion,  and Documentary Super Size Me.  and this only scratches the surface.

Note this isn't a best films list, but only a list of notable films that you can get through Netflix via the New Xbox Expereince.

For more info: Check out this list of movies available on Netflix on Demand and go to Rotten Tomatoes for my favorite tool to get movie recommendations.
