Thomas Hutchinson, a 19 year-old British teenager who called the White House and joked that there was a bomb in Madison Square Garden, has escaped prison time.

According to Reuters, Huchinson was sentenced to 6 months in jail, suspended for 18 months, and 250 hours of community service.

Last year, Hutchinson and his friends were having a barbeque, drinking and having a good time, when Hutchinson decided it would be fun to drunk call the White House.

Hurchinson, who lives in Sheffield, was caught by authorities after a White House switchboard operator pressed a button to have the call traced.

The call sparked an international terrorism investigation.  Madison Square Garden was not evacuated, because federal agents knew the call was coming from the UK and it was an obvious hoax, since Hutchinson and his friends were giggling while making the "bomb threat."

Hutchinson was tracked down following an investigation involving the American secret service, the FBI, the New York City Police department and British counter-terrorism police.
