Current radar showing heavy rain over Atlanta area and more to come.

While the higher elevations are battling snow storms and ice on the roads, here in the south where we are battling humid and warm weather, and worse, the Atlanta area is being pummeled once again with buckets of rain, causing flash flooding and river and creek flooding, which is reigniting the fears of those who have just endured serious flooding in that region. After years of drought... they are now dealing with a scary surplus that is literally washing them away. Unfortunately, what they are experiencing today is nothing compared to what's in the forecast. With just this line of storms, though, we are seeing the area already inundated with 2-3" of rain, with another 1-3" forecasted.

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA...EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA...NORTH  CENTRAL GEORGIA...NORTHEAST GEORGIA...NORTHWEST GEORGIA AND  WEST CENTRAL GEORGIA.

* A WARM FRONT WILL LIFT NORTHWARD INTO CENTRAL GEORGIA BY EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. TROPICAL MOISTURE OVERRUNNING THE FRONT WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD RAIN ACROSS NORTH AND PORTIONS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA TODAY. WIDESPREAD RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 3 INCHES HAVE ALREADY OCCURRED...AND AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 3 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. THE RAIN WILL  DIMINISH THIS EVENING...HOWEVER  ANOTHER APPROACHING WEATHER DISTURBANCE WILL BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAIN ON WEDNESDAY.

* SEVERAL CREEKS...ESPECIALLY IN THE METRO ATLANTA AREA...HAVE ALREADY RISEN ABOVE FLOOD STAGE. RAINFALL RATES CONTINUE TO BE HIGH ENOUGH TO RESULT IN ADDITIONAL RISES IN SEVERAL CREEKS...  STREAMS...AND RIVERS. FLOODING OF LOW-LYING AND FLOOD-PRONE   LOCATIONS IS EXPECTED.

So many lives have already been lost in the Atlanta area to flooding.  Please folks, I beg you to "Turn Around, Don't Drown."™
