The Charlotte Douglas International Airport, in North Carolina, was recently named the 26th busiest airport in the world in terms of passengers, according to the final 2008 passenger data from Airports Council International. In 2008, the Charlotte airport handled 34,732,584 passengers passing through its facilities. One major factor influencing the Charlotte Airport’s position on the list of busiest airports is that it is the largest hub for U.S. Airways.
Other airports on the list of world’s busiest airports include the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which has held the number one spot as the world’s busiest airport since 1998.
