These are serious times, but we can pause for weekend diversions.  It's first Saturday in Sacramento and most politicians are ventilating and/or raising money.

The President's weekly address is posted here.

Our state's First Lady (an odious term that should be furloughed) subs for her hub on the weekly radio show.

The mayor hasn't posted to his blog lately; he'll be in Phoenix on February 15th for...a fund raiser.  Mayor Johnson has put off (for now) his accountability campaign AKA strong mayor initiative.

A friend of mine was writing how glad he is that Obama is his president.

I commented that my mayor has a better jump shot than his president.

My friend rebounded with: 

 "Well, he ought to.  He's had a bit more practice.  It's ironic the president has a difficult time going to his left.  But he can flat out pass with the right."

Wait, is this a political or sports discussion?
