Miami FC announced their schedule complete 2010 schedule for the upcoming USSF Division II season. The Blues will play 30 matches against some of the best competition that the league can throw at a team that will come into the season with a great deal of question marks. Miami will also play in the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup on either June 15th or 16th against a team yet to be announced.
The season opener will take place at against perennial power Rochester and the Blues will stay within the friendly confines of the Magic City for their first four matches as they face teams like the Vancouver Whitecaps and the debut of the Florida derby when the new FC Tampa Bay Rowdies visit the Miami FC Blues.
“With the announcement of the schedule, the 2010 season is definitely upon us. We are excited to kick off our fifth season and are happy with the way the schedule worked out. With a heavy front- ended and back ended home schedule, the format suits the beautiful weather here in South Florida and gives the club a great opportunity to kick off and close out the season in front of our fans,” said Miami FC president, Aaron Davidson.
Also included is a second four-game home stand from July 25th to August 7th. This home stand will feature the second home game against cross-state rivals FC Tampa Bay Rowdies on Sunday, July 25th as well as a crucial match-up against Miami’s Caribbean rivals, the Puerto Rico Islanders on Saturday, August 7th.
As part of the release of the schedule the USSF also provided details of the playoff format for this season. Miami FC will be holding tryouts on February 20 and 21 over at Weston Regional Park. Registration fee for the tryout is $100.
