What an upgrade!
After being scheduled at Lockhart, the international friendly between Peru and Honduras will now be played at Land Shark Stadium on November 18th.
The event will take place in order to celebrate Honduras qualifying to the World Cup after a 27-year absence. Celebración Honduras Mundialista 2010 is a way to not only celebrate the Catrachos return to the world's biggest sporting event, but also a way for Miami to be able to promote the city as a viable venue for the 2018 and 2022 World Cup.
The US is currently bidding to be host of one of these two events and South Florida is one of 27 cities, and four candidates from the Sunshine State (Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville are the other three) in the running to be in the final 18 that will be on that list when bidding committee makes their sales pitch to FIFA next year.
Ironically the last time both of these teams participated in the World Cup was in Spain back in '82.
