Trader Vic’s – Hula with a Mai Tai
Created in San Francisco during the 1940’s by the charming ruffian Trader Vic, this Polynesian themed bar soon took on a life of its own as the birthplace of such infamous drinks as Mai Tai cocktail.
Serving sizzling pupu platters and crab ragoon in shadowing rooms surrounded by tiki masks, fishnets and the occasional flickering torch, Trader Vic’s is the perfect place for starting an evening out on the town.
Located in Los Angeles, Trader Vic’s sits on the corner of Santa Monica and Wilshire Boulevards with its very own entrance. Reopening in 2008 after a brief closure due a change in ownership, Trader Vic’s is now back in all its Tiki-lounge polychrome glory.
I highly recommended Trader Vic’s as the ideal starting place your evening out on the town, be it for the opening night gala of Rent or just your LA club crawl.
