San Diego Gay Travel, Day Without A Gay, San Diego Day Without A Gay, No On Prop 8

Staring in horror at his social calendar your San Diego Gay Travel Examiner, gasped in shock at the realization of what day it is. Not only is it the ‘International Human Rights Day’, being locally known in San Diego as a ‘Day Without a Gay’.

In what has become a huge grassroots response against the passing of Prop-8 in California, and similar Anti-Gay-Marriage laws through out the US, Equal Rights Activists came up with this nifty concept of using the ‘International Human Rights Day’ as the ‘Day Without A Gay’ to bring awareness to the general public, and to national media outlets.

In the spirit of the Day, your San Diego Gay Travel Examiner has come up with three things that you can do throughout the day to show your support for the Cause.

MILK- The Hillcrest Cinema, Landmark Theater will be showing this historical reenactment documentary of the life & times of Harvey Milk, the Equal Rights Activist who through his tireless efforts brought about a new era of openness in the struggle for Gay Rights. Starring Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, himself and directed by Gus Van Sant the man who brought us such creative visions as Good Will Hunting, it is sure to be quite the film.
**Play at the Hillcrest Cinema Landmark Theater @ 3965 5th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92103. They have added air times starting at 1:45, 2:45 4:30, 5:30, 7:20, 8:30, and 10:10. For a review please see San Diego Union Tribune.**

S.D. LEATHER TRIBE - 'A DAY WITHOUT A GAY' FOOD DRIVE- The San Diego Leather Community has come together in presenting this food drive benefiting victims of AIDS in and outside the gay community. The drive beginings after 6:00PM so those of us with day jobs can also participate. They will also be collecting monetary donations going directly to the ACLU, the organization directing the fight against Prop-8 in the California Courts.
**The Food Bank will be starting at 6:00PM at the Eagle, 3040 North Park Way, San Diego, CA 92104. Call (619) 295-8072 if you have any questions.**

Volunteer- These are websites of organizations in your area that could always use a helping hand either on a regular basic or for just a day thing.
