You're marrying your beloved. There is nothing more wonderful.

My dearest hope is that each and every one of you will arrange your wedding ceremony and your reception so that the vows you make and the community that supports them will all be an incredible celebration of you and your extraordinary love.

On average, as we're told by CostofWedding.com, couples that live in Philadelphia, PA, spend between $17,603 and $29,338 for their wedding. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring. What about you? What are you going to spend? What kind of money do you have to spend? The economy is in the toilet. That may pare back the amount you had thought to spend on the wedding. But what the lousy economy does offer is unusual options of spending your money where it matters to you. Note from Wedding Priestess: Not everything you see on the web or in a magazine is mandatory for tying the knot!

The Knot will tell you what percentages of your budget you should spend here or there. We're going to give you ideas that will help you go along with that or break free of their suggestions:

  • We'll explore all sorts of ways for you to spend more or less in one area or another.
  • We'll look at ways to be green.
  • We'll look at ways to be extravagant.
  • We're going to look at ways to honor the values that are at the center of your life.
  • Where do you need to work with people?
  • Where are you happy getting what you want on the web?
  • What kind of technology will support your touchy-feely wedding?

And because Wedding Priestess is a wedding a celebrant, we're going to look at the vows you will make, the ceremony that unites you and the marriage you are creating — and of course some people who help you do this!

You're going to be offered choices and advice from some very creative people about creating your perfect wedding.

Everyday with the Wedding Priestess is one more way to move from "I do" to happily and healthily ever after!

(And remember, I need your help to keep this column current, sassy and useful. Write to me with Philadelphia wedding venues, products and services to explore. Put The Wedding Priestess in the subject line.)

For the best information about what you want: Keep asking yourselves: What do we value? What does our marriage represent to us and to our community? What's going to make our celebration look like us? You've got questions. Stick with the Wedding Priestess, cause I have lots of answers!
