There are certainly all kinds of options, but if you're like 30 percent of American brides and grooms, you'll be heading to the Caribbean. Americans made up 4/5s of honeymoon couples who visited Jamaica.

Close to 10 percent of honeymooners visited Europe, thanks to sources at The Knot and Brides magazine.

Apparently about 25 percent of our couples head off to Vegas.

Most people don't want to indulge the travel days needed to take them to exotic and far away places, such as the South Pacific. (you can check out more information about what other people are doing here.)

More importantly, what do you want to do?

Here are some questions to look at as you consider your destination:

  1. Where have each of you always wanted to go?
  2. How much time do you have to spend on your honeymoon?
  3. How much money do you have to spend on your honeymoon?
  4. What kinds of activities are going to relax the two of you after months of wedding stress?
  5. What kind of attention does your new marriage need?

Explore the answers to all these questions before you choose what everyone else is choosing. Remember that the goal of the honeymoon is to enjoy the newly blessed sweetness between you. You're different from other couples, so choose what's guaranteed to keep you moving from "I do"to happily and healthily ever after. Answering these questions can help you choose the honeymoon of your dreams.
