the raw story

The Raw Story reported that Keith Bardwell, the LA justice who refused to marry an interracial couple because it wouldn't be good for the children has resigned. I wrote about this last month. Beth Humphrey, who is white, and Terence McKay, who is black, were eventually married by a justice of the peace in a neighboring town. Bardwell's wife asked Humphrey if they were an interracial couple and said her husband didn't perform them because it wasn't good for the children of these marriages.

He's clear that he did only what he believes in as he supposedly reported to CNN: "It's kind of hard to apologize for something that you really and truly feel down in your heart you haven't done wrong," he reportedly said.

Finally, a just and equitable resolution to this problem.
