Zipping through Costa Rica's Rainforests, Kurt Von Moos

Costa Rica, the "Rich Coast" is known for its awesome surfing, fertile rainforests and faultless beaches.

Thrill seekers have plenty to choose from including fishing, hiking, diving and biking.  But I highly recommend riding ziplines through the rainforests on a canopy tour when visiting Costa Rica.

Your senses will be be on absolute overload as you move quickly through the rainforest, safely harnessed to the cables.  It’s quite thrilling to fully experience the beauty of nature while your adrenaline is flowing!  Observe the lush vegatation, monkeys and toucans as you move through the canopy.  Smell the clean, misty air after the rain, on the green ferns. Feel the cool breezes and let your adrenaline flow.  Listen to the squawks of birds, the cackles of monkeys and the squeals of excited tourists zipping nearby too.  Take a deep breath and allow yourself to take it all in.

On a trip to Jaco, Costa Rica, a group of friends and I went to the Vista Los Suenos Canopy Tour site and negotiated a group rate. After participating in a short yet informative safety briefing, we climbed into our gear and started our adventure! We rode thirteen zip lines in total and had an absolute blast! Some lines were faster and longer than others, yielding more screams. On a few of the slower zip lines, the guides even let us hang upside down. Seeing the beauty of Costa Rica’s rainforests, while hanging like a monkey was fun, scary, yet strangely comforting and positively overwhelming! Groups discounts are available, so I highly recommend negotiating. However, this activity may cost you anywhere from $50 to $100 per person.

Zipping through the rainforests is truly an exhilarating activity. A canopy tour should undoubtedly be on an adventure seeker’s to-do list when visiting Costa Rica.  I am sure you will agree it will be money well spent.
