Oh Kristen Stewart. You just can't win, can you? One day you're just the girl who played Jodie Foster's daughter in Panic Room, the next, you're a mega superstar who can't handle being famous (oh, I'm sorry, I meant doesn't want to be famous - there's a difference, clearly). Stewart, always the verbal poet, was featured in Blackbook Magazine recently, and compares being famous to the life of Edward Cullen. Fame, she says, is like living as a vampire.
Yes, it must be difficult being so famous - but how could she have not known that was what she was getting herself into when she agreed to do the Twilight saga? Everyone knew that the books had a seriously intense fan base- the movies clearly would have the same. Sadly for Kristen, this isn't what she expected, nor what she wanted. She doesn't want to be famous. She wants to be taken seriously. Once again, there's a difference between the two, clearly.
Rob Pattinson recently told Vanity Fair that he's learned a lot from Kristen's ability to remove herself from the world of fame, so it's clear he appreciates that she's so aloof. But what about her fans? Once again, we're back to the conundrum - she made this bed. Doesn't she have to sleep in it? Sure, there are fans that take things too far, but that's the price you pay when you get into Hollywood, is it not? I don't see Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus complaining that they hate being famous.
She tells the mag:
On her career goals: "I don’t want to be a movie star like Angelina Jolie. Nothing about being a celebrity is desirable. I’m an actor. It’s bizarre to me that everybody’s so obsessive."
On the reality of fame: "Edward is actually a really good parallel to fame. As a vampire, he has a sad, desolate life—fame is the same."
