Whitney Port's moving to the city, and her PR people are pulling out all the stops to ensure everyone knows she's coming. She's on the cover of this weekend's Page Six Magazine looking a little funny (couldn't they have picked a more flattering shot?). Page Six claims Whit's the new Carrie Bradshaw, and I have to admit, I'm a little annoyed, partially because I was gunning for that title, but more so because Carrie was a writer and as much as I love Whit, she's got mush for brains as far as I've seen.
I will, of course, be watching Whitney's new show. I watched the entire hour and a half special, "From The Hills to The City" the other night on MTV, and ooh-ed and aah-ed as Whit pushed open the giant glass door to DVF's offices in Meatpacking, and dined in the West Village with her new Aussie boyfriend. I'm excited to see how MTV directs Olivia Palermo, the self-named "social" (read: socialite) with whom Whitney will work at Diane von Furstenberg. The previews make it look like Palermo will be the ultimate frenemy, and given that she's been referred to as the real life Blair Waldorf, I'm expecting some real drama. Palermo is, after all, just a rich girl who created her own scandals to try and get herself to the top of the socialite food chain. Here's hoping Whit a) helps Olivia chill out a bit and b) brings her California cool (less is more when it comes to makeup) looks to Palermo, whose face looks like it was painted on by Mariah Carey's professional retoucher.
Whitney, girl, you'd better bring it! I'm counting on you.
