The Children’s Hospital of Denver, Colorado was founded in 1908 operating only on a slender budget and meager donations. It grew through history from a converted residence with 30 beds to being one of the top ten pediatric hospitals in the nation. There are now over 1,000 pediatric specialists working to provide the best care at their main campus in Adam’s County and 16 Network of Care locations in the Denver area. As well as being the sole, level 1 trauma center in the region, they are experts in treating a broad range of medical conditions in children, including childhood cancer.
Studies show that cancer patients under the age of 20 have a better rate of successful treatment outcome when they are cared for in a pediatric setting rather than an adult setting. The Children’s Hospital is a fun and colorful environment, spacious and full of light, providing a healing ambience for children of all ages. All care provided at this hospital is family focused and the same type of extraordinary service and support administered to patients is available to their loved ones as. Among other amazing commodities The Children’s Hospital offers family suites, meditation and prayer sanctuaries, play areas, translation services and clinical social workers.

Education and research is important to the healthcare professionals of The Children’s Hospital and continuing to advance their skills and learning is a priority. Progression of knowledge in a vast number of topics ensures that the children of Colorado and across the nation will be provided with treatment containing the best, up to date techniques available. Research of childhood disease published in the area has come prominently from the Children’s hospital for over a decade as they strive to find new and more efficient cures for childhood cancer and other conditions. They are a member of Children’s Oncology group, funded by NCI, which is continually conducting studies for the treatment and cure of childhood cancers.

The Children’s Hospital is an ideal place for those fighting and coping with childhood cancer to seek committed care and provision. Medical, surgical and pediatric subspecialty experts, copiously trained nurses and advocate personnel specializing in social and psychological development are among those who make up a team dedicated to providing personalized and family oriented care to young cancer patients and survivors. They treat over 1,500 patients each year in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and are home to the Rocky Mountain’s only Pediatric Neuro-Oncology and Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant programs. The Center has earned national and international respect for cancer treatment of adolescents and young adults and is the only pediatric cancer center in the region.
