Libby Mitchell and one of her pups

Preference defines whether your dog will stay in a Pet Hotel, Doggie Daycare, or In-Home Pet Sitting while you are away. I personally prefer in-home care. I’ve found my dogs will eat better, sleep better and play better with a new human joining their “people pack”.

Libby Mitchell, the new franchise owner of FETCH! Pet Care of NE Dallas offers a few reasons why a pet sitter might be the right choice for you.

She states, “When animals are cared for at home, they get individual attention from a sitter. They are in surroundings familiar to them. Dogs and cats and other critters have playtime, get fed, go for walks, and because dogs are such social animals, they are very welcoming to a sitter. …Having a pet sitter come to the home instead of going to a facility, keeps travel costs down for the client, stress on the animal, and care for the home as well when you are away…”

“Clients receive phone calls or texts while they are gone so they know how their pets are doing, report cards, and daily walking logs so the owners know their little ones have had a busy day. We answer calls immediately and respond to email requests within an hour.”

Among the creative offerings FETCH! has for your pet are group adventures at Unleashed Dog Park (an indoor dog park, where pups can beat the heat), dog walks, puppy housebreaking help, day care with sitters at their homes, overnight sitting in your home, pet taxi services.

Although many hardy and happy pups fare well at boarding facilities, these are some of the possible negative affects associated with boarding an animal. Pet sitters offer a humane alternative.

• Some places do not board cats or other furry, feathered, or finned pets.
• Supervision and sanitization can be problematic.
• Dogs may be attacked or traumatized.
• Lack of individual attention.
• Some dogs just won’t play well together.
• Some dogs just won’t eat.

FETCH! Has been around since 2002 serving pets varied needs. Each pet sitter is CPR and first aid certified. Each pet sitter is thoroughly selected, screened, trained and insured. Entrepreneur Magazine named the company among its coveted “Franchise 500” in both 2007 and 2008.
