Mark your appointment book.  This evening the National Archives will host the 70th Anniversary Screening of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington in the William G. McGowan Theater at 7pm. The screening of the pristine 35mm print will be introduced by special guest Robert Osborne, film historian and host of Turner Classic Movies.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is Frank Capra's classic 1939 film starring James Stewart, Jean Arthur, Claude Rains and Thomas Mitchell. The classic film had its premiere on October 17, 1939 at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won for Best Screenplay.

The movie lasts 129 minutes and a discussion led by Robert Osborne will follow the screening.
