It occurred to me that I might want to introduce myself and give my readers a bit of my background.    I am Lucinda Mackinnon, Cindy to my friends, Ms Mack to my students.  As my brief profile states, I have 22 years classroom experience and 4 years experience running my own tutoring business.

It is my tutoring business which gives me the unique perspective of working with Public, Private, and Home-schooled students as well as students from 4-year and community colleges .... sometimes all in the same day!   I work with students who are making an A and want a higher A ... I work with students who failed the first half of the class already and have to get an 80-something to pass the class and get the credit.  I work with middle-schoolers and high-schoolers and people trying to pass the TAKS test or the GED test or the ASVAB!   I work with Home-schoolers and Un-schoolers and if you don't know what an Unschooler is, Google it and let me know what you think!

I created a DVD and Practice test booklet to help students pass the TAKS Exit Level Math Test... "Ms Mack Teaches TAKS".   My heart goes out to those students who cannot get a high school diploma simply because of their score on that test.  For more information on my DVD go to Math-Matters.org    I have helped numerous students pass the Exit Level TAKS and finally receive their Diploma.

It is because I work with this diverse group of students that I can see the issues and the discrepancies in Math Education in Texas today.     And I will be commenting on these issues and discrepancies right here!!

I welcome comments and suggestions!   Thanks for reading!
