Sen. Hillary Clinton has decided to accept President-elect Barack Obama's nomination for Secretary of State, according to news and Examiner reports. Clinton plans to resign her Senate seat before the confirmation vote would take place.
Obama's office told reporters on Thursday that the nomination process was "on track" but Clinton associates confirmed on Friday that she has decided, according to the New York Times. The news was then confirmed by Michael Harris, New York Govenment Examiner, soon thereafter.
The decision follows an intense vetting process, much of it over her husband's business dealings, and negotiations over various policy issues. Obama and Clinton discussed the nature of her role and foreign policy with the president-elect before reaching a decision.
